Our son PJ started with Milemarkers while he was in high school, seeing Colleen for speech therapy. Right about the time he graduated in 2014, they developed a group assisted employment program and PJ has been working ever since! He enjoys and takes great pride in going to work every day, bringing home a paycheck, and we are so thankful that Milemarkers is able to give him the opportunity to be an independent, productive person. PJ also attends their DTA program, and he loves the variety of activities and outings.
Milemarkers qualified and attentive staff is full of enthusiasm, and really care about and are dedicated to fulfilling their client’s needs. They continue to evolve to improve and enrich these kids’ and young adults’ lives. We highly recommend Milemarkers!
From Jim and Beth
My son Riley has been with Milemarkers since August of 2013. Riley was 3 years old and completely nonverbal and had spent the better part of his life being frustrated because he couldn’t communicate his needs. I felt hopeless because, as a mother, you want to help your child but I couldn’t help him. To say that Milemarkers has saved us is an understatement. I have never met two people as dedicated and passionate as Catie and Nicole. They have given their blood, sweat and tears to my son and have NEVER looked at him as anything less than the amazing kid he is. Riley isn’t just another name to them. He isn’t a case file or their 5 o’clock appointment. He is the kid with the blue eyes that can look so deeply into your soul. He is the kid who loves the tire swing and spongebob. He is the kid who loves to wrestle with Miss Catie in the ball pit and who likes to give Miss Nicole a hard time because he knows she’ll still love him.
They celebrate every single accomplishment of Riley’s no matter how big or small. They encourage him and praise him for even the smallest of things! All of their dedication and their love has made every bit of difference in his life. He now makes lots of meaningful sounds. He will make and hold some of the most intense eye contact you’ve ever experienced. He will hug you and he will kiss you. Miss Nicole has helped him find his voice and Miss Catie has helped him learn how to advocate for himself and his sensory needs. His future is so much brighter because of these women. Words can never express my gratitude for all of their support and their belief in my son. They are the absolute best at what they do and it’s not because of the books they read or the hours they put in. It is because they have a genuine love and passion for what they do. THEY are Milemarkers Therapy and our community is so much richer because of them.
